Journey of Bluelotus

Journey of Bluelotus

This very interesting journey started of course from Srikalahasthi, the holy grounds of Lord Shiva & the home to the exquisite art of penkalamkari.  I had the privilege of visiting this town often while growing up, as it was my grandparents’ place. So, when I decided to quit my finance career in 2019 to pursue something on my own, there were only 2 things that I was clear about. One is that it would be a business and the other – it would be something to do with penkalamkari. This led me to my roots, to meet some amazing artists, to understand the intricacies of this art and work towards development of new unconventional designs while keeping the technique of the art intact. While working with penkalamkari, it also led me to understand and work with different natural fabrics their weaves and other handcrafted arts. Going forward, I will be sharing excerpts from my journey, from the penkalamkari workshop and also some valuable insights from the artists and weavers who are a significant part of BlueLotus.
